YOUR CHALLENGES

 

The Purpose of the Global Category Manager – Indirect Material & Services position, is to establish, develop, communicate and execute category strategies in order to optimize the Total Cost of Ownership for VAT´s production centers in Switzerland, Malaysia, Romania and Taiwan.

The role will have significant impact on cost and supply base optimization and will act as commercial project leader on international cross functional projects within the category. The position is expected to be the main driver creating savings and spend insight including transparency on processes and policies across markets. Additionally the position is expected to report and share findings, savings and transferring best practice experiences that can be further deployed. In all its activities the position is expected to act as a commercial expert and change agent working closely together with Regional Category Managers, in Global Supply Chain and any other relevant internal or external stakeholders.

 

  • Develop, formulate and deliver short, medium, long term category strategies to ensure best TCO and security of supply for VAT

  • Represent own Indirect Material categories within the Global VAT organization

  • Accountable for the global category specific achievement of the objectives of cost optimization, supply base optimization and maverick buying reduction etc.

  • Provide forward-looking guidance on trends, threats and opportunities in own categories

  • Act as a business partner to key stakeholders and create value for our internal customers

  • Active supplier relationship management of the global supply base within its own category in alignment with the category teams in Switzerland, Malaysia and Romania

 

 

YOUR COMPETENCIES

  • A further education in Procurement or equivalent; ideally a Master’s degree or similar.

  • Preferably 5-10+ years of in depth strategic, tactical and operational sourcing experience with a solid working knowledge of global category management

  • Working experience within a global complex organization; an understanding of cross-functional & cross cultural change management is essential

  • Experience in MRO or indirect category management and familiarity with the internal challenges of implementing change

  • Strong contract negotiation skills, ideally with practice in global industrial manufacturing companies

  • Experience with sourcing systems and e-tool solutions

  • Solid people and change management skills, stakeholder engagement, cross-functional project leadership skills, strong analytical skills and ability to focus on the essential facts, able to get results through others, able to multi-task,  ability to work under pressure

  • Fluent in German and English (spoken and written)
