The Material Specialist is the enabler of the upstream material flow for dedicated product lines by ensuring that items are purchased, confirmed and delivered according to customer requirements. In this critical and dynamic role, you are responsible for End-to-End management of Purchase Orders (PO) of your item portfolio. Success in this role requires deep expertise in MRP, proactive problem-solving, the ability to manage PO (on an item level), and the ability to collaborate with SCP and challenge suppliers by insisting on VAT rights.
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

The firming of PO according to MRP planned purchase orders, considering inventory levels and material coverage ranges

Ensuring that supplier’s Order Confirmations (OC) are received and entered into D365 in time

Tracking timely delivery of PO and clearing past due deliveries

Steering the first level escalations (L1) with the supplier and updating OC dates

Initiate clarification of price/lead-time master data issues with GSS or SCP function (based on responsibility matrix) to ensure that the PO can be issued by VAT and confirmed by Supplier (*)

Evaluating MRP action messages: pulling-in, pushing out or cancelling PO, considering inventory levels, material coverage ranges and spent volumes

Resolving delivery issues with supplier and inbound logistics

Epediting of QA inspections at METI

Resolving invoicing issues for BLP

Conducts Demand and Supply (D+S) healthiness analysis and brings up key critical issues to the SCP.

In charge of transactional tasks related to NC Return-to-Vendor (RTV) process, including: Issuing PO for NC.

PO firming: Firming of PO according to MRP planned purchase orders, considering inventory levels and meaningful material coverage ranges, taking into account replenishment times.

Order Confirmations: Ensuring that supplier’s Order Confirmations (OC) are received and entered into D365 within defined timelines.
Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Degree in Technical or commercial education with a focus on Supply Chain Operations, Procurement, or Logistics.

Professional Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in a comparable role (e.g., Material Planner, Buyer/Planner), ideally within a fast-paced, HMLV manufacturing environment.

Analytical Skills: Ability to manage complexity, analyze inventory data, and maintain a structured approach to problem-solving.

Technical Proficiency (Mandatory): Knowledge in mechanical and electromechanical products. Expert proficiency in ERP systems (MS Dynamics 365 F&O strongly preferred), with knowledge of MRP logic. Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables) are mandatory.

Planning Knowledge: Strong understanding of advanced inventory management concepts (Safety Stock, Reorder Point, Segmentation) and material flow processes.

Data Integrity & Application: Experience in maintaining critical planning parameters and utilizing data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI) to analyze trends and identify risks.

Personality & Drive: Independent, resilient, and proactive personality with strong assertiveness, negotiation skills, and organizational talent. Demonstrates a highly structured and process-oriented working style.

Languages: Good English and Bahasa Malaysia (both written and spoken). German language is an added advantages.
