Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Manage the end-to-end packaging development process, including packaging design, prototype development, specification, validation, and testing.
- Conduct experiments, trials, and technical analyses to validate and advance packaging solutions, both internally and with external suppliers.
- Collaborate closely with Product Development and Manufacturing teams to define, test, and implement optimal packaging designs for new products.
- Align packaging requirements with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Supply Chain, EHS, Purchasing, and Quality.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and implement margin improvement and technical innovation opportunities across materials, labour, transportation, material handling, storage, and packaging cycle times.
- Establish packaging standards, guidelines, and evaluation criteria for suppliers, and conduct quality and safety assessments to ensure compliance.
- Ensure packaging and labeling specifications comply with established standards, best-known methods (BKMs), and applicable requirements.
- Investigate the root causes of packaging damage and develop corrective and preventive actions to reduce customer complaints and mitigate safety risks.
- Lead product and packaging testing using industry-standard protocols, including ISTA and ASTM, to validate packaging performance and design robustness.
- Ensure packaging solutions comply with applicable transportation regulations, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and implement packaging cost-reduction initiatives to achieve targeted cost savings while maintaining product quality, safety, and performance.
- Communicate investigation result and improvement action to relevant internal stakeholders and customer when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum a B.Sc. Engineering in the Mechanical, Mechatronic, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in packaging development.
- Understanding of distribution packaging and crating with experience in packaging materials, design, package testing/qualification, and packaging regulatory issues for individual parts or small assemblies.
- Knowledge of warehouse layout, material flow, storage systems, and material-handling processes.
- Experience with root-cause analysis, problem solving, continuous improvement, and customer complaint investigations.
