Machining Process Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Machining Process Engineering Manager to lead and optimize our machining operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of CNC machining processes, ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety in production while managing a team of skilled machinists and technicians. This role will play a crucial part in driving continuous improvement to achieve higher OEE, Productivity and improving Quality & Yield.
The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of process engineering within the department, ensuring efficient and effective manufacturing processes that meet quality, cost, and delivery targets. This role will play a crucial part in optimizing production processes, improving product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives, with a strong focus on supporting production expansion.
Roles, Responsibilities and Job Expectations
Process Management:
- Develop, implement, and optimize CNC machining and secondary processes to ensure efficient production and high-quality output.
Ensure proper setup and use of equipment, tool, jigs/fixture and parts with proper procedure
- Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for machining operations.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of Process Engineers.
- Assign tasks and monitor performance to ensure project deadlines are met.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with the Quality Control team to resolve machining-related defects or discrepancies.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with R&D, engineering, production, maintenance and procurement teams to optimize workflows and materials usage.
- Provide regular updates and reports to management on project progress and performance metrics.
Safety & Environmental:
- Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
- Identify and mitigate potential safety and environmental hazards.
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions.
- Stay updated with industry trends, tools, and technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead and manage improvement project to improve Yield, Quality, Machine Utilizations and Cycle Time.
- Lead and participate in Darwin cost savings projects.
- Lead and support new product introductions, process upgrades and Digitalization projects
Key Competencies and Skills
Minimum Qualification
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Experience in CNC machining, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proficiency in Minitab and Data Analysis software
- Strong knowledge of machining principles, tooling, and materials.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma is a plus.
