The Senior Industrial Engineer plays a critical role in optimizing manufacturing operations through strategic layout planning, efficient material flow design, capacity modeling, and production line relocations. This position is responsible for leading key projects that improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall plant performance. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

 

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Designing and optimizing factory layouts to maximize space utilization, operational flow, and safety compliance.
  • Developing detailed layout drawings and simulations using tools such as AutoCAD or equivalent software.
  • Analyzing current and future material flow to identify inefficiencies and propose lean, cost-effective solutions.
  • Implementing optimized material handling strategies to reduce WIP, improve delivery times, and streamline logistics.
  • Conducting time studies, line balancing, and takt time analysis to support accurate capacity and labor planning.
  • Developing and maintaining dynamic capacity and headcount models based on production forecasts and product mix.
  • Leading and coordinating the relocation of production lines across facilities, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Managing all aspects of line transfer projects including planning, equipment movement, installation, validation, and re-start.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as operations, quality, maintenance, EHS, and supply chain during project execution.
  • Preparing and presenting detailed project plans, cost justifications, and progress reports to key stakeholders.
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles to drive operational excellence.
  • Identifying and implementing best practices in layout design, material flow, and industrial engineering methodologies.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers and technicians, promoting technical growth and knowledge sharing within the team.

 

 

Minimum Qualification:    

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial engineering roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in plant layout design, material flow optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma tools, and project management principles.
  • Experience in managing production line transfers or plant relocations is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Visio, or other layout design tools.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with simulation 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and results-driven.

 

 

Preferred Qualification:    

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing with hands-on experience in Lean Line Design, Flow oriented Layout Planning, Value Stream Mapping & Design.
  • Familiarity with clean room & production environment and machining manufacturing/ assembly processes.
