Global Material Compliance Manager

VAT Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. a leading global manufacturing company within the VAT Group, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Global Head of Material Compliance to lead our Material Compliance team and ensure that our products comply with applicable regulations and standards worldwide. This position offers the opportunity to play a critical role in material compliance and contribute to the continuous improvement of our products.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal regulations, environmental and safety standards, as well as internal policies regarding the material composition of our products and production processes.
  • Developing and implementing strategies for risk mitigation and continuous improvement of material compliance.
  • Collaborating with other internal departments, including R&D, production, quality assurance, and procurement, to ensure material compliance at all stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Monitoring changes in legal regulations and industry standards on a global level and for our target markets regarding material compliance and their impact on our products and processes.
  • Leading and developing the Material Compliance team members in all production sites, consisting of specialists in material regulations and standards.
  • Conducting risk assessments and identifying potential compliance issues related to materials and their use.
  • Conduct material compliance assessments, including substance disclosures and restricted substance lists for the local organization.
  • Training of employees and raising awareness of material compliance requirements and best practices
  • Define solid processes and set up a framework for systematic compliance documentation and reporting, including maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external partners, suppliers, and authorities in the field of material compliance

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as chemistry, environmental sciences, engineering, or a comparable qualification
  • At least 5 years of experience in material compliance
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant national and international regulations and standards in the field of material compliance including Conflict Mineral, REACH, RoHS, TSCA and California Proposition 65
  • Experience in leading and developing teams and workgroups.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex information and develop pragmatic solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a global, multicultural environment and deal with different cultural approaches.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
