We are seeking an experienced fixture design engineering manager to lead our fixture design team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in machining & assembly fixture design and be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of innovative fixture & equipment solution that enhance efficiency, reduce cost, and improve product quality.
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Lead and manage the fixture engineering team, providing mentorship and guidance.
- Design and develop machining & assembly fixtures and tooling for manufacturing processes, applying GD&T principle effectively.
- Continuously develop and sustain the technical competency within the design team.
- Collaborate with cross functional team, including product engineering, process, production and quality assurance.
- To perform detail designs and drafting of detail drawings (parts drawings) with 3D software and upon the approval of the project manager in accordance to drawings, assembly instructions & PFMEA requirements, and forward the designs to the respective vendors and suppliers for quotations & fabrication.
- To provide engineering solution to NPI team members for new launch products, tooling, jigs & fixture setup and monitor project timelines and budgets, ensuring timely delivery of fixture solution.
- Ensure proper setup TPM & autonomous maintenance planning on mechanical devices, tools, jig & fixtures with proper procurement documentation and ensure perform the TPM according to TPM planning.
- Support in establishing manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities with proper document (e.g. work Instruction), these includes setting of mechanical devices, tooling, fixture setup and clamping method.
- Initiate and participate in continuous improvement process and 6S at work environment to increase the productivity and maintain safety, quality, cycle time optimization and efficiency towards meeting departmental goals.
- Conduct training for production staffs in workflow and the use and applications of various jig and fixture clamping techniques.
- To conduct the machine/processes capability study and machine acceptance documentation.
- Provide support for internal / external process audits and ensure compliance of established process requirements in the implementation of jigs and fixtures.
- Implement best practice in fixture design and engineering, with a focus on precision and compliance.
- Prepare and present technical documents and reports, including CAPEX investment proposal to management & stakeholder.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team & stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in fixture engineering.
- Support daily task given by Superior from time to time.
Minimun Qualification:
- Prefer 8 years relevant professional experience in fixture design and engineering, preferably in a machining/assembly manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor/Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or related field.
- Proven leadership experience with a focus on team development and collaboration.
- In-depth knowledge of GD&T and its application in fixture design.
- CNC/precision machining knowledge is an added advantage
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organization, time management, planning skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
- Familiarrity with automation and advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
GOOD TO HAVE:
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g. TopSolid, NX, Catia, Solidworks)
- Finite Element Analysis FEA
- Design for Manufacturing Assembly skill ( DFMA )
