Role and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the sustaining engineering for the products produced in VAT-MY and supporting design related activities throughout the product life cycle of product series. Working closely with cross-functional departments including business unit, operation, quality, field application and so on  for all engineering related matters, assuring that the products are shipped within all relevant VAT and customer specification.

•    In depth understanding of products including design, machining, assembly and the surrounding processes.
•    Possess strong problem solving skill, able to find root cause, implementing short and long term measures. 
•    Have sense of responsibility and able to work independently. Taking technical ownership of the product, actively driving improvements and keeping the product up to date.  •    Supporting other peers in topics like DFMEA/PFMEA, quality case, escalations, audits and etc.  
•    Act as checker to verify new design requirement from application and product management team before distributing the information to the designer.
•    Support customers together with product manager and application engineer on the product related issue including customer complaint and audit.
•    Taking ownership on dedicated products including trouble shooting. 
•    Technical and quality support for operations.
•    Technical support in Cost Improvement projects.
•    Optimize product’s performance in collaboration with design engineer
•    Verify and optimize manufacturability with manufacturing departments, supply quality engineers and project buyers 
•    Supporting all changes in regard to supply chain, manufacturing and assembly processes.
•    Lead investigation and analysis of problems and drive implementation of solutions for the design-related issue escalated by the customer. 
•    Work together with designers to transform design ideas into executable plans.
•    Estimation workload distribution (“70% coordination & 30% design” basis).
•    Must be able to travel to the customer site to support the field related issues if necessary.

Qualifications and Key skills:

•    Degree in mechanical engineering
•    Strong skills in 3D-CAD (NX preferable) and PLM systems as well as MS-Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) •    Ability to work in a team and good communication skills, also in English, for cooperation with production and product management 
•    Experience in project management (structured working method) is added advantages
•    Enjoy working on strategic issues 
•    Strong analytical skills 
•    Experience in change management 
•    Language comprehension (local language, English) 

Special skills (such as special certifications):

•    Knowledge to vacuum industry technology are a big asset.
•    Experience in design and application of mechatronic components. (Motor, sensor, heaters etc) •    Experience in the production of the cast parts, sheet metal parts, injection molding parts, etc. will be value added.
•    Person needs to be agile and creative, self-motivated and focussed to meeting customer needs
